Your Initial Consultation With A Tracy Chiropractor

Patient Forms

As your choice Tracy chiropractic clinic, it is important that we have a clear understanding of your health history and detailed information about your condition. When you first visit our office, you will be asked to complete new patient forms. Our welcoming and friendly receptionist will provide you with all the tools that you need and can answer any basic questions you may have about completing these forms.

Some of the questions you may find on your new patient forms include:

  • When and how did the pain begin?

  • Where is the pain located? Describe the type of pain you’re experiencing. Is it sharp, throbbing, burning, intermittent or constant?

  • Did your pain begin as the result of an injury?

  • Are there any activities or circumstances that make the pain better or worse?

Initial Consultation

Once your new patient forms have been completed, you will meet with one of our chiropractors to discuss your health-related problems, any concerns you have about chiropractic care and potential treatment options that may be available to you.

This initial visit to our office is the ideal time for your chiropractor to learn more about you, your condition and what type of expectations and concerns you may have. With this information, our team is better able to determine how our chiropractic care services can meet your overall health and pain relief goals.

Chiropractic Exam

After your consultation, our chiropractors will conduct a thorough chiropractic exam, including general health tests such as taking your blood pressure, pulse, reflexes and respiration. More specific orthopedic and neurological tests will also be conducted to assess:

  • Muscle tone
  • Muscle strength
  • Range of motion for any affected areas
  • Neurological integrity

Your chiropractor may also conduct further tests to assess the affected area(s) by asking you to move your body in a certain way and analyzing your posture.

Diagnostic Studies

Once your chiropractor has gathered information from your initial health history evaluation and your chiropractic exam, additional diagnostic testing may be needed to reveal pathologies and any structural abnormalities that can help to accurately diagnose your condition.

Depending on the type of condition you are dealing with and the severity of your condition, you may not need further diagnostic tests following your initial exam. However, if your chiropractor has a good reason, they may order X-rays or other tests to provide more detailed information and from there, recommend the best treatment program possible for your condition.

Common diagnostic studies include:

  • X-ray exams
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging or MRI scan
  • Other lab tests

Patient Diagnosis

Once all diagnostic testing has been completed, our staff will take the combined findings from your health history, physical exam and diagnostic tests to find your specific diagnosis. Once a solid diagnosis has been established, our chiropractor in Tracy will determine if your condition will benefit from chiropractic care.

Treatment Program

With a confirmed diagnosis, our team can now suggest a chiropractic treatment plan that will fit in with your health needs, lifestyle, timeline and budget. Some of the most common treatments used in chiropractic care include:

  • Spinal adjustments and manipulation
  • Spinal mobilization
  • Physiological therapeutics
  • Strengthening and stretching exercises
  • Other treatments such as massage therapy, heat/cold application and patient education may also be used.
